Ground Gear

Ground Gear Ground gear was first made with the advent of trawling. Throughout the history of trawling, various types of ground gears have been developed, gradually extending the range of trawlable bottoms. Until 1985, the predominant type of ground gear mounted on bottom trawls consisted of rolling bobbins, threaded on a chain that ran through holes in their centers. In the mid 80s, Rockhopper ground gear was developed and adopted by a number of major trawl fisheries, and nowadays this type of gear is virtually exclusively used by fisheries all over the world.

Ground gear teeth are crowned with the ideal amount of tip and root relief to ensure quiet operation. They assure high transmission accuracy and comply with grade one quality to take up peripheral velocity of 1.5 meters per second. They offer maximized efficiency, higher load capacity, correction of profile, and longer life.

Ground gears are widely used in fishing industry.
